Fire fighters e extinguishing fire in Khilgaon on Friday night.
Dhaka, Feb 2 – A fire that broke out near Talatola intersection in the garage zone of Khilgaon, Dhaka on Friday evening, was brought under control after nearly two hours of firefighting efforts.
The blaze was first reported at around 7:30 pm, prompting an immediate response from the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Initially, three fire service units rushed to the scene at approximately 7:35 pm and began efforts to control the flames.
As the fire spread, five additional units joined the operation.
Media officer of the Fire Service headquarters, Anwarul Islam, said that the fire was brought under control by 9:35 pm. “We are now conducting rescue operations,” he added.
According to Anwarul Islam, the fire erupted in a densely packed garage area located behind Khilgaon police station.
The area comprises multiple vehicle garages situated in close proximity to each other, making the situation more challenging.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, local residents reported that gas cylinders exploded as the fire spread through the garages. No casualties or injuries have been confirmed as of yet.
The incident triggered panic among residents of the Talatola area, as flames and smoke were visible from a considerable distance. The fire also led to a temporary power outage in the affected locality.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage. - UNB
