Fisherman net 60-kg sea salt fish in Kuakata

Patuakhali: One fisherman netted a 60-kg salt fish in the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Kuakata. Its length is 10 feet and width 2 feet. 

This fish was brought to Alipur fish port at 9:30 am on Tuesday. At the time, eager crowd gathered to have a look at the fish.

It is stated that fisherman Hashanul Majhi of Bashkhali netted the fish at Sonar Char Point in the Bay of Bengal. This fish was caught in the fishing net three days ago. 

Later today Tuesday (August 2) he bought the fish to Alipur fish port to sell. Rahim Khan, a local fish warehouse owner bought the fish at the price of Tk 20,000.

Fisherman Hasanul said, the trawler has to gain a lot of speed to lift it because the weight of the fish is heavy.

Kalapara Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said, sea salt basically not seen often. It is a deep sea fish. Research is needed on this fish, he said. - Gofran Biswas
