A student of Eden Mohila College was killed as two auto-rickshaws collided head on at Islambag intersection in the capital’s Lalbagh early Thursday.



A student of Eden Mohila College was killed as two auto-rickshaws collided head on at Islambag intersection in the capital’s Lalbagh early Thursday (July 21).
The deceased was identified as Umme Salma, a masters student of Eden Mohila College.
The deceased’s brother Md Hasan said, “We along with our family went to our village house in Bhola from Dhaka to celebrate the Eid. After the Eid vacation, we left for Dhaka by launch and reached Sadarghat at night. Later, we hired an auto-rickshaw to take us to our destination. The accident took place when the auto-rickshaw carrying us collided head on with another at Islambag intersection in the capital’s Lalbagh around 3am, leaving my sister critically injured.
Later, my sister was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctor declared her dead, he said.
DMCH police camp in charge Inspector Md. Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter and said that Lalbagh police station was informed about the incident.
