Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan assured today that the government remains open to discussions regarding the demands of railway staff, emphasizing that dialogue channels are always available.

“If necessary, we are ready to sit down with them again, and we will involve the finance division to address their concerns,” he said during a media visit to Kamalapur Railway Station.

Khan also expressed regret over the ongoing disruptions caused by railway staff, who have been holding passengers hostage, adding that the situation is causing significant inconvenience to the public.

“We’ve communicated through the media to reduce passenger suffering, and we’ve arranged BRTC buses for those affected, ensuring they can reach routes normally served by the railway,” he explained.

The adviser acknowledged the long-standing issue of staff demands for mileage allowance and stated that while many of these requests have already been addressed, the government is willing to continue discussions to resolve the remaining concerns.

“Railways are not private property, and there is always room for constructive discussions,” Khan emphasized.

With the Ijtema event approaching, the adviser stressed the urgency of resolving the current disruptions to avoid further inconvenience for passengers.

BRTC Chairman Tajul Islam, Railways Secretary Md. Fahimul Islam, Railway Dhaka Divisional Manager Mohammad Mohiuddin Arif, and other senior railway officials were present during the visit.
