General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and Dhallywood actress Sharmin Akhter Nipa alias Mahiya Mahi is going to an independent candidate in the upcoming national election.

Billal Hossain, assistant returning officer and Tanore UNO, confirmed the news on Monday.
Earlier, she submitted nomination forms seeking the Awami League ticket for Chapainawabganj-2 constituency and Rajshahi-1 constituency. But she did not get the Awami League nomination.
