Rains likely to drench the country in next 24hrs: Met Office

"Heavy to very heavy falls likely at places over the country"



Dhaka, Sept 25 - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain or thundershowers in all divisions including Dhaka in 24 hours commencing 9am on Wednesday.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office update.

Country’s highest 107 mm rain was recorded in Nilphamari’s Dimla in 24 hours till 6am on Wednesday.

Day temperature may fall by 2-5°C and night temperature may fall by 1-2°C over the country, according to the BMD.

Country’s highest temperature was recorded in Netrokona at 36 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6pm on Tuesday while the lowest temperature 24.3 degree Celsius was recorded in Dimla and Khulna’s Koyra upazila till 6am on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area over West-central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal persists. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, center of the low to Assam across Bangladesh. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.-UNB
