Dhaka Urges Multilateral Push for Rohingya Repatriation

Speakers made the observations at a seminar titled “Bangladesh and Myanmar Relations from Global Power Politics: International Responses for Sustainable Peace and Stability,” organised by the Department of International Relations at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), said  press release here. 

The discussion highlighted the complex geopolitical dynamics surrounding the protracted Rohingya crisis, which has continued to shape and strain Bangladesh–Myanmar relations, while underscoring Dhaka’s commitment to a peaceful resolution through diplomatic channels and global engagement.

Ambassador Christian Lechervy, Special Envoy for Myanmar from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, delivered the keynote address at the seminar, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive and coordinated international response to address the crisis.

Professor Lt Gen (retd) Mohammad Aminul Karim and Professor Abul Kalam Azad of Department of International Relations at BUP spoke as panel discussants, outlining the strategic and humanitarian implications of the Rohingya issue on Bangladesh’s foreign policy and security landscape.

Professor Shahab Enam Khan of the Department of International Relations, BUP, moderated the session, facilitating an in-depth discussion on the challenges and prospects for sustainable peace in the region.

BUP high officials, faculty members, researchers, students, and invited guests attended the seminar, engaging in a comprehensive dialogue on the global power politics affecting the Rohingya crisis and its broader regional consequences, reports BSS.
