Council of Advisers met today, chaired by Professor Muhammad Yunus.

The ongoing flood and waterlogging situation in Feni and Noakhali, caused by continuous heavy rainfall, came under discussion at a meeting of the Council of Advisers held today.

Chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, the meeting took place at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon, where relevant advisers presented updates and actions taken in response to the crisis.

Key issues discussed included the urgent need to finalise the designs for the Musapur Regulator and Bamni Closure by the Ministry of Water Resources, and to expedite the permanent dam construction project in Feni. The Council also emphasised the importance of restoring and reopening canals and drainage systems in Noakhali to ease waterlogging.

The Council was informed that repair work on damaged embankments, riverbank protection, and water control infrastructure is underway in both districts. These activities are being supported with funding from the World Bank to enhance disaster resilience.

A detailed report was also presented on the relief efforts carried out so far by the Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation and the local administration. These include emergency aid distribution, evacuation measures, and logistical support in the flood-affected areas.

The Council stressed the need for continued coordination among ministries and local agencies to mitigate the impact of the floods and prevent further damage in the affected districts.
