
Bangladesh received US$1.38 billion in remittances during the first 11 days of August, registering a 45.6 percent year-on-year increase, according to Bangladesh Bank data.
The country received $954 million in remittances during the corresponding period of August last year.
Expatriate Bangladeshis sent $127 million on August 11 alone, the central bank data showed.
Remittance inflows during the first 42 days of the current fiscal year, from July 1 to August 11, reached $4.24 billion, up 23.8 percent from $3.43 billion recorded during the same period of FY2025-26.
The latest figures indicate a strong start to the new fiscal year for remittance earnings, which remain a major source of foreign exchange for Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s gross foreign exchange reserves stood at $36.96 billion as of August 10.
Under the International Monetary Fund’s Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6) methodology, the country’s usable foreign exchange reserves stood at $32.15 billion.
