Ferry services on the Shariatpur-Chandpur waterway have been temporarily halted due to thick fog that has reduced visibility to dangerous levels.

The Narsingpur Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) terminal authorities made the decision to suspend ferry operations from 4 a.m. on Tuesday, citing safety concerns. Deputy Manager Md Iqbal Hossain explained that the fog, which began engulfing the river and surrounding areas from midnight on Monday, made it unsafe for ferries to operate.

Iqbal further assured that no ferries were left stranded mid-river, and emphasized that services would resume once visibility improves and conditions are deemed safe.
