Police investigating recovery of newborn's body from pond in Magura

Magura, Apr 08 -The body of a newborn was recovered from a pond in Sreepur upazila of Magura early this morning, eliciting shock and sorrow from the local community.

Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Sheikh Tasmin Alam of the Sreepur Police Station has confirmed the recovery.

The discovery was made around 7:30 am by a local resident, Ershad, who stumbled upon the tragic sight in a pond used for jute-rotting near his home in Sahebpara village. Promptly, Ershad informed the Sreepur Police Station, leading to the police intervention.

Following the recovery, the Officer-in-Charge announced that the newborn's body was sent to the morgue for an autopsy, a necessary step to uncover crucial details.

In response to this incident, authorities have filed an unnatural death case with the Sreepur Police Station, initiating a formal investigation into the matter. - UNB
