An imam and his daughter tragically died, while his son fell ill after being stung by hornets in Dhobaura upazila, Mymensingh, on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Maulana Abul Kashem, 55, the imam of Dudhnoi Bazaar Mosque, and his eight-year-old daughter, Labiba.

Porakandulia Union Chairman Manjurul Haque Manju confirmed the incident.

According to family members and locals, Abul Kashem was cutting bamboo with his daughter Labiba and son Sifat when hornets from a nearby nest attacked them.

Locals rushed them to Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex, from where doctors referred them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

However, both Abul Kashem and Labiba passed away on the way to the hospital. Sifat is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, reports UNB.
