Patuakhali: Students have formed a human chain in Kalapara, Patuakhali, demanding an end to rape, murder, women abuse and violence and exemplary punishment for those involved in the abuse. The human chain was organized by the Violence Against Women Prevention Network and the National Women Abuse Prevention Kalapara Forum in front of the Kalapara Press Club at 11 am on Wednesday.

The hour-long program was addressed by Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun, President of the Violence Against Women Prevention Network, environmental activist Mejbah Uddin Mannu, and Monirul Islam, Project Manager of the non-governmental organization Avas, and students from various schools and colleges.

The speakers said that incidents of violence including violence against women, murder and rape have occurred one after another across the country, including in Kalapara. Those involved in these incidents are remaining undetected. They demanded that the administration be more proactive in preventing violence. – Gofran Palash
