Pakistan FM Ishaq Dar Begins Two-Day Visit to Dhaka

Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Dhaka on Saturday for a two-day official visit to Bangladesh.

He was received at the airport by Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, according to officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his stay, Dar is scheduled to hold meetings with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain. The talks are expected to cover the entire spectrum of bilateral relations along with key regional and international issues of mutual interest, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Ahead of the visit, Touhid Hossain had said that outstanding matters related to 1971 would also be raised during discussions with his Pakistani counterpart.

Dar’s planned visit to Dhaka in April was postponed amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India following a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. The new schedule was finalised later through mutual consultations.
