One more dies of dengue, 664 hospitalised in 24hrs

Dhaka, Sept 23 -One more death from Dengue was reported in 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 182 this year.

The death was reported from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the period, 664 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, raising the total cases to 43,173 this year.

According to the DGHS, new cases were reported as follows: 136 in Barishal Division (Out of CC), 76 in Chattogram Division (Out of CC), 117 in Dhaka Division (Out of CC), 101 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 107 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 17 in Mymensingh (Out of CC), 57 in Rajshahi Division (Out of CC), and 47 in Rangpur (Out of CC) and 6 in Sylhet Division (Out of CC).

As of now, 834 patients are receiving treatment in Dhaka, while a total of 2,124 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

The DGHS recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in the same year. - UNB
