Gas cyllinder blasts

Savar, Feb 6 - Three people have been injured when a car’s LPG cylinder exploded during a gas refill at Savar’s Ashulia.

The incident happened at the Habib CNG Pump, located adjacent to the Haji Jamal Uddin Motor Parts Market in Palashbari on Thursday, said Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur Alam Siddique.

The injured are Imran Hasan Sani (35) from the Katasur area of Mohammadpur in Dhaka, his wife Mukta Akter (32), and their 11-year-old child, Kazi Minhaj.

The injured were rescued and taken to the nearby Sohel Square Hospital. Doctors said the injuries were not life-threatening.

The accident unfolded when the car, which had been parked to refill its LPG cylinder, had its cylinder suddenly explode just as the refilling process began. The force of the explosion completely crushed the vehicle.

Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur Alam Siddique said the wrecked car had been retrieved and that investigations were ongoing to determine the exact cause that led to the explosion. - UNB
