Labour Ministry Forms 2 Committees to Assess Fire Damage

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has formed two committees to evaluate the damage caused by the fire at Building No. 7 of the Bangladesh Secretariat, where the ministry is located.


A five-member committee has been tasked with assessing the damage to important documents and records. The committee will also propose measures to prevent future incidents. Joint Secretary Begum Morsheda Akter will lead the committee, with Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Masum serving as the member secretary. Other members include Deputy Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Hossain, Senior Assistant Secretary Purabi Golder, and Assistant Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman.

A second committee has been established to assess the damage to the ministry’s assets. Joint Secretary Md. Abdus Samad Al Azad will serve as convener, with Deputy Secretary Md. Kamal Hossain as member secretary. Other members include Deputy Secretary Mohammad Saidur Rahman, System Analyst Sukanta Basak, and Assistant Maintenance Engineer A. S. M. Mehrab Hossain.

Both committees have been instructed to submit their reports within the next seven working days.

Earlier today, Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hussain visited the affected offices and directed the formation of the committees to assess the damage caused by the fire.
