Two sisters drown in Noakhali pond

Two minor sisters drowned in a pond at Dakshin Rajarampur village under Mohammadpur union of Senbagh upazila in the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Bibi Mariam Ahi, 10, and her younger sister Sidratul Muntaha Sohir, 6, daughters of Belal Hossain of the same village. Both were students of a local madrasha.
According to their in house CC TV footage and police source, the sisters went on the bank of the pond adjacent to their house around 6:30 am. While trying to catch a snail there, Ahi accidentally slipped and fell into the water. Her younger sister Sohir jumped in to rescue her and also drowned.
They were rescued from the pond around 7:00 am and taken to a local doctor, who declared them dead, reports BSS.
Sub-Inspector of Senbagh Police Station Abdur Rouf confirmed the incident.
