Stock indices up in first hour of trading at DSE-CSE

Dhaka, Aug 20 - Indices at both Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges witnessed an upward trend in the first hour of trading on Wednesday, with most company shares advancing.

At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the key index DSEX gained 14 points in early trading, while the Shariah-based index DSES rose by 2 points and the blue-chip index DS30 added 1 point.

Of the issues traded, the prices of 201 companies advanced, 93 declined and 87 remained unchanged.

Shares and units worth over Tk 200 crore were traded on the DSE during the first hour.

The trend was similar at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), where the overall index gained 71 points.

Out of 46 issues traded, 29 advanced, 13 declined and 4 remained unchanged.

The turnover at the CSE stood at Tk 50 lakh in the first hour. - UNB
