Ambassador Al Duhailan acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arabia, praising their dedication and strong work ethic. He noted that the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka is currently processing a significant number of visas daily, adding to the existing three million Bangladeshi workers in the Kingdom.
Both officials stressed the importance of maintaining robust diplomatic ties between the two nations. They highlighted the role of high-level dialogues, including political consultations and the Joint Economic Commission (JEC), as well as the Joint Technical Committee (JTC) on Manpower, in fostering cooperation and addressing mutual interests.
The Ambassador also provided updates on major Saudi initiatives, including the establishment of Iconic Mosques and an Arabic Language Institute in Dhaka, seeking Bangladesh's support to expedite these projects. He discussed ongoing Saudi investments in Bangladesh’s port logistics, renewable energy, and power sectors.
Foreign Secretary Uddin assured the Ambassador of Bangladesh's commitment to resolving any outstanding issues and encouraged the exploration of new investment opportunities. He expressed full support for addressing barriers that may impede further Saudi investments.
The Foreign Secretary commended Saudi Arabia's efforts in promoting regional peace and stability, particularly its leadership role within the Islamic community. He reaffirmed Bangladesh's steadfast support for Saudi initiatives aimed at fostering regional harmony.
Additionally, Secretary Uddin reiterated Bangladesh's solidarity with the Palestinian cause, advocating for prompt action toward a two-state solution.
Ambassador Al Duhailan congratulated Foreign Secretary Uddin on his new role, while Uddin briefed him on Bangladesh’s recent initiatives and reforms under the Interim Government. The Ambassador expressed gratitude for Bangladesh's ongoing support for Saudi Arabia on international platforms, including its bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and activities within the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), emphasizing the deep-rooted bonds between the two nations.
